NIH Baby Toolbox for Use in Research Settings
With the development of the NBT, researchers can assess development across a common set of metrics. We are enthusiastic that it will be a powerful asset to those working to understand developmental processes, diseases, and delays, and become a foundational tool in the effort for healthier development.
Test Selection
NBT tests can be added onto an existing protocol to allow for a common assessment across studies, or a researcher can choose to use the tests in a standalone manner. Researchers can administer a pre-selected battery of tests by child age or choose their own order of tests as desired. Once tests are administered, data can be exported via .CSV files using one of several export options (e.g., configurable web location, encrypted email, iCloud or iTunes).

Highlighted Use Case
The NBT is starting to be used in several large-scale national studies including the HEALthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) study and Environmental Health Outcomes Study (ECHO). The ease of administration and use makes these tests a great addition to large (or smaller) scale studies.
