NIH Baby Toolbox for Use in Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are looking for standardized assessments that are easy to use and available in multiple languages. NBT can help with that. Available in English and Spanish, the NBT’s valid, reliable, and norm-referenced measures allow for ease of assessment with even the youngest ages. The NBT Score Reports offer a quick and individualized view of the child’s development for trial outcome purposes. Test Selection

NBT tests were designed to be easy to administer to allow examiners at all skill levels to be trained on these tests. Online training videos, administration guides, and suggested practice regimens allow trials to take full advantage of this system. All scoring is done locally on the iPad and no tests need to be sent anywhere for scoring. Test results (i.e., data) can be exported via CSV files in any number of methods including configurable web location, encrypted email, iCloud or iTunes.

Highlighted Use Case

Using design and assessment principles from the NIH Toolbox for Assessment of Neurological and Behavioral Function® (NIH Toolbox), the Baby Toolbox is meant to act as an extension appropriate for infants and toddlers. NIH Toolbox has already demonstrated great utility as an outcome measure in clinical trials. We expect that the NBT will be used in the same way.
